White November was founded for people who want jewellery that means something. Not just beautiful, but carrying enough of the wearer in it to be worth passing on.
Everything is designed and handcrafted in Melbourne, using traditional handcraft techniques, ethically sourced diamonds and gemstones, and gold, platinum and silver, with recycled metals wherever possible. There is always a power of celestial proportions to the work, with an underlying softness.
It started with an elective at RMIT
Our founder, Bianca Librandi, first fell in love with jewellery while studying at RMIT in Melbourne. She chose it as an elective and never looked back.
For many years afterwards she designed jewellery for some of Australia's most loved brands. It was good work, but it was fast: mass-produced, trend-led, and largely forgotten by the following season. Something was missing.
She believed jewellery should feel personal and meaningful, and should reflect the individuality and style of the person wearing it rather than the calendar. What she wanted to build was a brand that made only bespoke, unique pieces of fine jewellery, made to complement and celebrate the person they were made for.
The Pantheon, and the first collection
A trip to the Pantheon in Rome became the inspiration for the very first White November collection, Celestial Spheres.
An intertwining of astronomy, architecture and beauty led to the birth of the brand: one that represents the beauty surrounding us. That thread has never really left the work. It runs through the crescent moons and star settings, through the Art Deco geometry of the Empire collection, and through the way a piece is composed before it is ever made.
What the work is for
White November has become bound up with the moments people want to keep: a milestone birthday, a proposal that went the way it should have, an accomplishment nobody saw coming. Pieces made to be cherished, and then handed down — to daughters, granddaughters, great granddaughters.
That is also why so much of what we do now is remodelling. A ring that has been in a family for sixty years and sits unworn in a drawer is not finished. It is waiting.
How we work today
Every piece is still made here, by hand, in the Melbourne studio. Most of what we make is made to order, one piece at a time, which is slower and is meant to be.
